The Gut Nerd Caribbean started with strong subject knowledge rather than a finished digital brief. Early conversations with Dr. Romanie Gunness made the purpose clearer: translate clinical research and public education into practical health information that feels relevant to people in the Caribbean.
That changed how I thought about the website. The priority was not a visual refresh in isolation. The blog, podcast, services, recipes and contact paths needed a clearer relationship, while new areas for teachers and resources had to fit without making the experience feel crowded.
The desired tone was knowledgeable but approachable. Clear wording, inviting navigation and a restrained but memorable palette had to work for a broad audience, from teenagers through adults in their fifties. Readability and mobile responsiveness therefore became structural requirements rather than finishing touches.
The website and fibre tracker also needed distinct jobs within one product family. The website helps people explore and learn; the app supports a repeated daily action. Giving each experience a clear role made the shared brand easier to understand.
The useful lesson was that content architecture is part of product design. A polished interface cannot compensate for unclear paths through the information people came to find.
